Peaceful shopping with silent pallet truck…
In cooperation with a Norwegian grocery chain, the Danish manufacturer of material handling equipment, Logitrans, has developed a silent pallet truck. The need arose at the Norwegian grocery chain, as the noise from the pallet trucks was transmitted through the concrete constructions to the flats above. The noise has caused many complaints of e.g. deliveries of goods in the evenings and nights. Also the customers enjoy the silent pallet truck, named “Panther Silent”, as it with its special rubber wheels moves the goods smoothly and silently around customers and racking.
- A shop owner always focuses on their customers – and that they feel good. The movement of pallets and goods is not allowed to disturb the customers, says Erling Pedersen, President at Logitrans.
Panther Silent is also used at Kvickly (Coop) in Ribe. In a very enthusiastic and proud way, Deputy Manager Karl Jessen says: “We always focus on the comfort and well-being of our customers. We want to provide our customers with a quiet and peaceful shopping atmosphere; Movement of pallets and stock should not cause inconvenience! Before we got our Panther Silent pallet trucks, all conversation between the customers stopped, when goods were being moved around between the customers. Now they hardly notice that we move the goods around in the shop.”
As a cost-saving benefit, the special wheels of Panther Silent are very gentle to the floor and flagstone layers in the shops. In Kvickly in Ribe, they earlier had the problem that the wax coating of the floors was destroyed, and the floors were very exposed to dirt. This problem disappeared when they exchanged the old pallet trucks with Panther Silent
Focus on the working conditions of the employees…
There is no doubt that employees in supermarkets and shops move many boxes and crates during one single working day. On the basis of many inquiries from supermarkets and shops, Logitrans has developed a range of “light duty” products, specially designed to move around in even the most confined shop and storage areas. Logitrans has named the range “Mini” and it consists of fully powered stackers and pallet trucks and an ordinary manual stacker.
Features of the “Mini range” are the “lightness” and optimum manoeuvrability compared with corresponding products. It is easier for the employees to transport goods – even in the most confined areas!
